GUATECOMPRAS — Guatemala state procurement portal
Guatecompras is Guatemala’s official public procurement portal; Minfin and DIGAE operate it to publish procurement events, contracts and registered provider records for the public sector.
Function
Guatecompras publishes procurement events, adjudications and provider records for Guatemala’s public sector. The portal offers search functions, data modules and published feeds used for transparency and oversight. The Ministerio de Finanzas Públicas (Minfin) and its Dirección General de Adquisiciones del Estado (DIGAE) oversee operation and technical updates on the platform.
Distinction from related systems
Guatecompras focuses on procurement publication and structured open-data outputs, including OCDS and other reporting modules. It is distinct from the Sistema Informático de Gestión (SIGES), which remains a separate system for consulting state contracts and is accessed under different user arrangements, including accounts for press users.
Practical consequence for a supplier
The portal’s "Buscar un proveedor" function was adjusted to return results only for persons or companies formally linked as providers or contractors. Guatecompras is therefore not a general public-person search tool; supplier visibility depends on having formal records or contract history recorded on the platform.
