Assessment summary — Procurement Act 2023
An assessment summary explains the outcome of a supplier’s tender assessment under the UK Procurement Act 2023 and is provided before the contract award notice in the relevant competitive procedure.
Why it matters
The summary helps the supplier understand why its tender succeeded or failed. It is part of the transparency surrounding assessment, rather than the contract itself or an invitation to renegotiate the submitted offer.
How to use it
Compare the reasons with the published criteria, scoring method and the evidence in the response. Separate a disagreement with a score from an apparent departure from the stated evaluation approach. Preserve the summary and the date it was received.
Different notices, different functions
The assessment summary and contract award notice are separate documents. The contract award notice starts the applicable standstill period; receiving feedback is not itself the same event. Check the current guidance and the procurement’s legal regime before calculating a deadline or deciding what review route is available.
