Office of Government Procurement (OGP) — Ireland

Ireland's central procurement policy office and Central Purchasing Body (CPB), OGP sets national procurement policy, establishes frameworks and advises public bodies and suppliers.

Role and remit

The Office of Government Procurement (OGP) develops public procurement policy in Ireland and serves as a Central Purchasing Body (CPB). It operates within the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation and is responsible for policy, professional practice, sourcing and advisory services for clients and suppliers.

Organisation and functions

As a CPB, OGP puts in place contracts and framework agreements that public bodies may use to buy common goods and services. The office’s teams run central sourcing activity across many categories and support complex, one‑off procurements where required. OGP also promotes digitalisation and professional standards.

Practical consequence for suppliers

Suppliers can compete for OGP-managed contracts and frameworks; those agreements make suppliers eligible to supply participating public bodies. OGP states it encourages competition and the participation of small and medium enterprises.
