Contract no. 25-66 - Waterford Drive, Winton, stormwater upgrade

A large rain event occurred in Southland in September 2023. This led to surface flooding across the region. Southland District Council (SDC) received complaints of surface flooding from several residents in Winton township. A stormwater upgrade was completed on Arthur Street in 2024. WSP have previously undertaken a stormwater model build for the township of Winton with several recommended upgrades and locations to investigate further. Based on this, water flooding concerns on Waterford Drive to be addressed by construction of new stormwater main draining to open channel on the west. SDC propose to upgrade the stormwater network by construction of an additional stormwater main on Waterford Drive to reduce the flooding experienced in this area in future events. The upgrade would be from the outlet drain on Ivy Russell Reserve on the western side of 48 Hillary Street to Niddry Crescent Waterford Drive Intersection.
