DRDC Suffield Research Centre has over the course of the last two decades conducted several projects on the effects of various explosive technologies and the effectiveness of numerous protective solutions. This previous work has developed physics based models that capture system effects which cannot be accurately predicted using simpler methods. These models have been successfully implemented into the high-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics code Chinook. The development of protective solutions and defeat of these threats can be improved through the continued development of the Rapid City Planner (RCP) tool.
