We are seeking research proposals for the priority research topics outlined in this RFP as part of the research programme supporting the Strategy to Prevent and Minimise Gambling Harm 2025/26 - 2027/28. These projects will generate high-quality relevant evidence to support gambling harm prevention and minimisation mahi in New Zealand. This includes informing public health initiatives, service delivery, policy development, strategic planning, regulatory decision-making, and broader system responses. The research will also contribute to our understanding of how the wider health and disability system can support efforts to prevent and minimise gambling harm. It is important to us that the proposed project addresses current priority issues with new knowledge, is well-planned with relevant expertise, and can be completed successfully within the contract term. It is also important to us that each proposal demonstrates: • methodological rigour • meaningful consideration of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, cultural responsiveness, and an equity-focused approach • incorporates lived experience perspectives where appropriate • generates actionable evidence to support efforts of gambling harm prevention and minimisation.
