Lower Piako River Right Bank Pipiroa to Ngatea Stopbank Upgrade Stages 2, 3 and 4

Waikato Regional Council (Council) invites tenders for the Lower Piako River Right Bank Pipiroa to Ngatea Stop bank Upgrade Stages 2, 3 and 4. This Tender is for the upgrade of a section of the Piako River flood protection stop bank between Pipiroa and Ngatea. This significant earthworks contract will upgrade the height of 1,625m of stop bank and shift 3,356m of stop bank that is too close to the river edge. The Piako River right bank stop bank is bounded to the north by State highway 25 and to the south by State Highway 2. Council is looking for credible contractors who have the capacity, capability, experience and resources to deliver this project on time and within budget. They need to have a good track record on health and safety and environmental management. A compulsory site inspection will be held on 30 July 2026 at 9:00am. Attendance is mandatory to ensure all tenderers have viewed the site, understood the associated hazards and issues associated with the site/project, plus have an opportunity to ask questions of Council’s Operations staff and Project Manager about the project. Tenders received from Tenderers who do not attend the compulsory site inspection will not be evaluated by Council. Tenders close at 4:00pm on Friday 4 September 2026 and must be submitted electronically via GETS.
