Health NZ invites Registrations of Interest from the open market for Design and Build services for the Domestic Hot Water (DHW) Pipe Replacement Project at Whakatāne Hospital. The project involves the staged replacement of the existing DHW reticulation system, which has been identified as a critical plumbing infrastructure risk across the district hospital which requires remediation to maintain service continuity and compliance with Building Warrant of Fitness requirements. The current Domestic Hot Water pipework has experienced recurring failures which has caused reactive maintenance, meaning local outages to critical assets including disruption to clinical services. The project aims to deliver a reliable, maintainable, and resilient hot water system that supports continuous hospital operations in a live acute healthcare environment.
