The Department of Sport Science and Nutrition was launched in 2023, as a new discipline at Maynooth University, Ireland. This growing department currently consists of four full-time academics and one full-time senior administrator, who are collectively responsible for conducting research and teaching students in the disciplines of Sport Science and Nutrition. In the 2024/2025 academic, the department will launch two new undergraduate programmes, MH221 Sport Science and Health and MH222 Food Science and Human Nutrition, as well as continuing to teach modules into MH412 Business with Sport Science, which launched in the 2023/2024 academic year. To facilitate this growth in research and teaching activities, the Department of Sport Science and Nutrition is establishing an exercise physiology laboratory, which requires equipment to conduct accurate and reliable physiological measurements and exercise testing. This exercise physiology laboratory will be expanded on within the next three years with development of a new building, which will contain additional laboratories requiring further equipment relevant to sport science and nutrition.
