From 1 July 2026, Tiaki Wai became the water services provider for the Wellington region operating drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services for around 432,000 people and stewarding nearly $9 billion of publicly owned assets on behalf of its five council owners and mana whenua partners. Its success depends on being efficient, effective on water safety, environmental compliance and economic performance and trusted: by its customers, its Board, its owners, and by the regulators. As part of its establishment, Tiaki Wai is undertaking a programme of work to implement a suite of core applications. These applications include a Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) and Asset Management platform. They require data to be migrated into the platforms, this data is currently held by the councils, service providers and Tiaki Wai systems.
