This award is for Stage 1 works only: Full Business Case Development Full Business Case Determination Stage 2 - will be awarded once the Council receives approval from WYCA, should the price exceed the FBC budget, the project may not proceed. The Steeton and Silsden Active Travel Corridor Scheme is a City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) project being delivered by City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (the Client). The proposed scheme objectives are outlined below: • Eliminate the key barrier to active travel between Steeton and Silsden by overcoming the severance of the A629 • Improve cycling and walking access to facilities, services, education, and employment opportunities, such as Steeton and Silsden Station and Airedale Hospital from Steeton & Silsden town centres • Make active travel a natural and popular choice for local and short distance trips and deliver a 20% uplift in walking and a 50% uplift in cycling between Steeton and Silsden within 5 years of the scheme opening. • Improve the perception of safety for cyclists and pedestrians traveling between Steeton and Silsden • Enhance air quality and contribute to decarbonisation through a mode shift to active travel • Complement future housing growth through the provision of sustainable journey options to/from allocated sites • The project will be funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements
