Stage 1 of the Te Kauwhata Domain footpath project was completed in 2023 and included the construction of new concrete and gravel walking paths within the Domain. Following completion of the works, sections of the adjacent slope experienced subsidence, resulting in unsupported areas of concrete footpath and scour damage to parts of the gravel path. Reviews undertaken by Council staff, the original designers, and the contractor confirmed the works were generally completed in accordance with the approved design. Council is now seeking a supplier to undertake remedial works to address the affected areas while also progressing the next stage of the Domain walkway network by constructing as much additional footpath as possible within the available budget. Detailed designs are attached in Appendix 1. The high-level outcomes of this project are: • Construction of new concrete and aggregate footpath • Construction of new concrete pads for exercise equipment and benches • Completion of remedial works • Minor earthworks adjacent to new footpath • Minor drainage installation
