Microsoft 365 backup-solution

Microsoft 365 backup-solution Åbo Akademi University is mostly running workloads on on-prem servers in our own server rooms i Turku and Vaasa. Backup of these servers are also stored on-prem to existing iSCSI-storage solutions according to out backup policy which specifies among other things that: • the backed up data should be stored on-prem • two copies need to be stored, one copy in each server room • the retention time is 13 months As our reliance on Microsoft 365 increases we aim to start backing up this data as well according to the same policy. Currently M365 is mostly used for Teams/Sharepoint, but within a year Exchange Online will probably also be in use. The current Microsoft 365 volumes are: • Staff: 1370 • Students: 15300 (see below) • Storage: 95 TB (annual increase expected to be 20 %) The total number of students doesn't reflect the number of active users at all. If the licensing of the provided backup solution is based on active users with data to back up the number of students will be set to 7200 when comparing prices. The solution that fulfils all the demands for the lowest price covering the following number of users will be selected. • Staff: 1400 • Students: 7200,
